Is Copilot included with Microsoft 365?

It depends on the experience. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is available to eligible Microsoft 365 users at no additional license cost. The fuller in-app and work-grounded experience generally requires an add-on or a plan that includes it. Confirm the exact plan before purchasing.

Does Copilot see all company information?

No. Copilot works in the signed-in user’s context and uses information that user is permitted to access. Broad or outdated permissions can still expose more information than leaders expect.

Can Copilot access files employees should not see?

Copilot should not bypass Microsoft 365 permissions. The real problem is access an employee technically has but should no longer have. Correct old links, broad groups, inherited permissions, and weak offboarding first.

Is Copilot private?

Microsoft states that prompts, responses, and Microsoft Graph data used by Microsoft 365 Copilot are not used to train its foundation models. You still need to configure accounts, sharing, retention, and integrations correctly.

Can employees trust its answers?

Not without review. Copilot can omit context, misunderstand a request, invent details, or use outdated information. Important facts and source material should be checked before action.

Do we need an AI policy?

Yes. Define approved tools and uses, prohibited information, human review requirements, client communication rules, documentation expectations, and reporting procedures.

Should every employee receive a license?

Usually not at first. Give pilot access to people with measurable use cases and enough time to learn and provide feedback. Expand only where the evidence supports the cost and risk.

How should we choose pilot users?

Choose a small cross-section of willing users with repeatable, information-heavy tasks. Name a pilot owner and give each user one or two approved use cases.

What security review should happen first?

Review MFA, privileged accounts, employee departures and role changes, SharePoint and OneDrive permissions, Teams, shared mailboxes, external sharing, anonymous links, sensitive data, content ownership, and audit requirements.
